8:19 PM - Video: Rescue Me Intro

This is one of my favorite FX programs. The other deals with the police (The Shield) but this is the first program I recall that ever dealt with fire fighters. Coolest show ever. And you get to see the opening credits thanks to YouTube.

10:32 PM - The White Sox are out of playoff contention...

Well last year the White Sox did the impossible. It was over 40 years since the White Sox made a World Series appearance (1959). They last won the world series in 1917. Well say goodbye to 1917 and good morning 2005. And the Sox even swept the Houston Astros last year. No more 59 Fever.

But on this day, it seems, the White Sox can kiss a repeat performance good-bye. Another world series is not coming this way, this year. The Cubs aren't going to make it either. They haven't gotten closer than 2003.

Oh well I do at least have the memories of seeing the White Sox actually celebrate their championship on the field. I would say there's always next year but that's a sure way of continuing a century long losing streak.

Music files are from White Sox Interactive.

And if people are too wimpy to deal with your attitutde, then too bad. So sad.

Miss Maroon & White Pageant, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

Yeah so remember the picture of the new Miss Maroon and White on stage getting her roses and sash. Well this was how it was determined by these young men who are going to cast a ballot for the lady of their choice. Wow democracy in action!!!

11:26 AM - A pit at Promontory Point

A pit at Promontory Point, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

I was at Promontory Point in the Hyde Park neighborhood this summer. Sometimes it's great to be on Chicago's lakefront in some hot weather during the summer. Look at some of the sights I saw this pit. Looks perfect for BBQ but it looks impossible. Either way it does look like someone was burning something here then I found out what they were for thanks to another Flickr photographer...

These are called Council Rings, if memory serves. Alfred Caldwell, Promontory's landscape architect, thought this was a democratic way of having a fire. Everybody around the ring with the fire in the middle and everyone is equal distance from the fire. It is also designed to foster discussion, fraternity, etc.

And there you have it.

10:19 AM - Let it go!!!

Yeah the message is the same although this is going back going on two years. Perhaps I'll bring this back on New Year's Day. Think of it as a New Year's resolution although I am about two to three months too early. Enjoy!!!

LET IT GO 2005

There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk.

I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you.

I mean hang up the phone or as Jay-Z says, "Gone brush your shoulders off". When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

The bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19]

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay. Let them go.

And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over.

And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead. You've got to know when it's dead. You've got to know when it's over.

Let me tell you something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it.

Stop begging people to stay. Let them go!!

If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to ...LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to past hurts and pains ...LET IT GO!!!

If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and see your worth...LET IT GO!!!

If someone has angered you ... LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge .. LET IT GO!!!

If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction ... LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents ... LET IT GO!!!

If you have a bad attitude...LET IT GO!!!

If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better... LET IT GO!!!

If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him. LET IT GO!!!

If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship...LET IT GO!!!

If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to help themselves...LET IT GO!!!

If you're feeling depressed and stressed...LET IT GO!!!

If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying "take your hands off of it," then you need to... LET IT GO!!!

Let the past be the past. Forget the former things. LET IT GO!!!

Get Right or Get Left .. think about it, and then LET IT GO!!!

10:20 PM - I found my favorite Scotsman!!!

I found this website. This Scotsman is a trip. As you can tell in this video. And then check out this piece of Flash work (I warn you that it is offensive). Wow I didn't know Glasgow, Scotland can grow some talent like this.

The BBC needs to get this man a sitcom so that we an watch his show on PBS or some cable station.

7:18 PM - Southern Birth Signs...

Well what do we have here? A sort of take on he zodiac we're accustomed too. And man I'm surprised to find out what I am. Check them out and see what you might be...

Body: SOUTHERN BIRTH SIGNS

What's Your "Southern" Sign? Some of us (especially Southerners) are pretty skeptical of horoscopes, and it has become obvious that what we need are Southern" symbols:

OKRA (Dec 22 - Jan 20) Although you appear crude, you are actually very slick on the inside. Okras have tremendous influence. An older Okra can look back over his life and see the seeds of his influence everywhere. Stay away from Moon Pies.

CHITLIN (Jan 21 - Feb 19) Chitlins come from humble backgrounds. A chitlin, however, can make something of himself if he's motivated and has lots of seasoning. In dealing with Chitlins, be careful. They can erupt like Vesuvius. Chitlins are best with Catfish and Okra.

BOLL WEEVIL (Feb 20 - Mar 20) You have an overwhelming curiosity. You're unsatisfied with the surface of things, and you feel the need to bore deep into the interior of everything. Needless to say, you are very intense and driven as if you had some inner hunger. Nobody in their right mind is going to marry you, so don't worry about it.

MOON PIE (Mar 21- Apr 20) You're the type that spends a lot of time on the front porch. It's a cinch to recognize the physical appearance of Moon Pies. Big and round are the key words here. You should marry anybody who you can get remotely interested in the idea. It's not going to be easy. This might be the year to think about aerobics. Or, maybe not.

POSSUM (Apr 21 - May 21) When confronted with life's difficulties, possums have a marked tendency to withdraw and develop a don't- bother-me-about-it attitude. Sometimes you become so withdrawn, people actually think you're dead. This strategy is probably not psychologically healthy, but seems to work for you. One day, however, it won't work and you may find your problems actually running you over.

CRAWFISH (May 22 - June 21) Craw fish is a water sign. If you work in an office, you're always hanging around the water cooler. Crawfish prefer the beach to the mountains, the pool to the golf course, the bathtub to the living room. You tend to be not particularly attractive physically, but you have very, very good heads.

COLLARDS (June 22 - July 23) Collards have a genius for communication. They love to get in the "melting pot" of life and share their essence with the essence of those round them.. Collards make good social workers, psychologists, and baseball managers. As far as your personal life goes, if you are Collards, stay away from Moon Pies. It just won't work. Save yourself a lot of heartache.

CATFISH (July 24 - Aug 23) Catfish are traditionalists in matters of the heart, although one's whiskers may cause problems for loved ones. You catfish are never easy people to understand. You prefer the muddy bottoms to the clear surface of life. Above all else, Catfish should stay away from Moon Pies.

GRITS (Aug 24 - Sept 23) Your highest aim is to be with others like yourself. You like to huddle together with a big crowd of other Grits. You love to travel though, so maybe you should think about joining a club. Where do you like to go? Anywhere they have cheese or gravy or bacon or butter or eggs. If you can go somewhere where they have all these things, that serves you well.

BOILED PEANUTS (Sept 24 - Oct 23) You have a passionate desire to help your fellow man. Unfortunately, those who know you best - your friends and loved ones - may find that your personality is much too salty, and their criticism will probably affect you deeply because you are really much softer than you appear You should go right ahead and marry anybody you want to because in a certain way, yours is a charmed life. On the road of life, you can be sure that people will always pull over and stop for you.

BUTTER BEAN (Oct 24 - Nov 22) Always invite a Butter Bean because Butter Beans get along well with everybody. You, as a Butter Bean, should be proud. You've grown on the vine of life and you feel at home no matter what the setting. You can sit next to anybody. However, you, too, shouldn't have anything to do with Moon Pies.

ARMADILLO (Nov 23 - Dec 21) You have a tendency to develop a tough exterior, but you are actually quite gentle. A good evening for you? Old friends, a fire, some roots, fruit, worms and insects. You are a throwback. You're not concerned with today's fashions and trends. You're not concerned with anything about today. You're really almost prehistoric in your interests and behavior patterns. You probably want to marry another Armadillo, but Possum is another somewhat kinky, mating possibility.
Wow, I'm an armadillo. Works for me.

6:42 PM - Video:ECW Promos From November 2 Remember 1997

This had to have been way before I first started watching ECW which was around 1998. So at least a year before that this promo video. Man I miss the ECW I knew for the brief time that I had been able to watch it. It was a shame that it went bankrupt and out of business in 2001.

Of course today ECW is back under the WWE banner unfortunately it's watered down. But I really did enjoy the first ECW: One Night Stand. I got the DVD and have enjoyed it ever since. Can't wait to get the second version but it seems there will be more of an ECW influence than in the one held last year.

BTW, I warn you this video courtesy of Google Videos is going to be violent.

12:36 PM - Video: Dragnet 2003

I was one of no doubt a few people who watched this update of a TV/Radio Classic created by Jack Webb. Ed O'Neil (Married with Children's Al Bundy) starred in this series as the season LAPD detective, Joe Friday. I honestly believe the first season of episodes were great. They were what I had expected he had a partner Frank Smith like he did in the original series.

Unfortunately the series was cancelled five episodes into the second season with Det. Smith written out of the series. The new Dragnet was produced by Dick Wolf who decided to make this more of an ensemble cast and call this show LA Dragnet. This probably didn't help the show gain any traction. While I continued to watch this show I really didn't like the change in format.

Of course Dick Wolf had other failures since then. I didn't know it yet but he had a show this past TV season called Conviction starring Stephanie March who left the series Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (she was ADA Alexandra Cabot and returned to Conviction in that role) a few years earlier. And then there was Law & Order: Trial by Jury a year before that which was to have starred Jerry Orbach (who played Det. Lennie Briscoe in that series and on Law and Order) but died after filming two episodes.

Either way I wouldn't mind it if they could revive the series one more time. This video is courtesy of YouTube. It made me really want to watch some episodes of the new series again and even some old episodes with Jack Webb.

Perhaps I'll show a few other Dragnet clips that I've found later on.

2:07 PM - Video: Law & Order: Gotham Part 1 of 3

This is a treat. I'm already obsessed with two Law & Order shows, Criminal Intent and SVU. But today I have a series of short videos of Law & Order Gotham. These are the adventures of Gotham City Detective Harvey Bullock. You may have seen him in the Batman comics or even the cartoons of the 1990s.

This video is courtesy of YouTube.
