3:06 PM - Sister's Chapel

Sister's Chapel, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

This was on the campus of Spelman College. I've went inside of this place once for a music performance. At that time I was closer to Coretta Scott King than I ever though I would be. I never spoke to her but that doesn't bother me. I ran into the link to another great man, her husband. Now she too is gone.

4:37 PM - AKA step

AKA step, originally uploaded by okiboi637.

Check out these fine sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha. This is one of my favorites from Flickr as well. These ladies might have been doing pretty well as this step show. Too bad I wasn't physically there to see it.

River Oaks, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

I was in Calumet City of Torrence on this evening. And I decided to take a picture of this folded stop sign. There was information on here to contact first responders in an emergency.

6:38 PM - A fancy house on the south side of town...

Mansion, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

This house (actually it's more like a mansion) is located in the Chatham neighborhood of Chicago. Chatham is a black middle class community. Home to many sucessful blacks. I don't know who lives here let alone own this home but they surely have done well for themselves.

I used to think this was some type of office building. Basically because it has that look.

12:06 PM - It's black history month.

Pilgrim Baptist Church: LOST!, originally uploaded by ChicagoEye.

I just realized this is black history month. So I make an excuse to make posts about black history month. There probably won't be many posts on Black History month here. I don't have too many black history pictures that aren't Morehouse centered. However, I'd like to make that attempt.

This picture is from a photoset. It is one of my favorites that I want to highlight for you. If you don't like in Chicago you might not know about this building. It housed the birthplace of gospel music. It was brought down by fire early last month. I did a post about it as well.

Hopefully it will be rebuilt.

10:11 AM - Do you need a ride?

South Shore train, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

Do you want to go to northeast Indiana? To such locales as Hammond, Gary, Michigan City, and South Bend? Then take a South Shore train. You can board at Randolph Street and make several stops in the city before it crosses the Indiana state line.

I took this picture when I was home for the Christmas holidays on the campus of Chicago State University.

7:22 PM - King Memorial

King Memorial, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

I do this because today Coretta Scott King lies in the Georgia State Capitol. Her funeral will be on Tuesday. LINK

Also this is Dr. King's memorial on the campus of Morehouse College in front of King Chapel. It is said to be the only memorial or statue to a black man in the state of Georgia.

On another day last month the former president of Dr. King's fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha, Harry E. Johnson, Sr., stopped by speak to students and make a pitch for a memorial on the National Mall for Dr. King.

8:16 AM - Somewhere in New Mexico

Somewhere in New Mexico, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

Last summer I was on the train to Los Angeles and an off duty Amtrak worker alerted me to this 300 year old church. I hope you see the three crosses to the extreme right. And the architecture is almost what I'd expect of New Mexico. Although we are talking about ancient New Mexico.

10:30 AM - 8th Ward Democratic Office

8th Ward Democrat Office, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

I took my digital camera with me over to Cottage Grove on a summer day to take a picture of the office for the 8th Ward Democratic Organization. This serves as an office for Alderman Tood Stroger and a state Representative who's name eludes me at the moment. The organization is run by Todd Stroger's father Cook County Board President John Stroger.

I took this picture and used it for my blog post back in June about the 8th Ward Democratic Organization.

11:31 PM - My lighted water fountain...

Fountain, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

I decided to have a little fun with my camera on this evening so I turned out the lights in my room and I turned on the water fountain. And I took this snapshot in the dark. It was pure luck to see that water dripping down and the colors which flicker on and off at certain intervals, were all on at once. This is my more artsy photograph.

Blue line train, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

I was leaving downtown on this day. I was on my way back home after spending this day going downtown to fool around with my camera. So as this Blue Line train approaches from out west on its way to the loop I took this snapshot.
