1:25 PM - Video Experiment 4: Star Trek

It was great to see Dr. McCoy in this brief Star Trek video from YouTube. This video was so bad it was laughable, but it was great to see the Dr. McCoy and my other favorite Star Trek characters one more time. I really liked seeing Dr. McCoy large and in charge in this video. I also like seeing Scotty here too. This video feature the two dead original cast members of Star Trek.

11:42 AM - Video Experiment 3: Omega Psi Phi

Another video courtesy of Google Video. From Kansas City, Missouri some Omegas perform the Founder's Step. I like the energy and volume of the brothers of Omega Psi Phi. It's like nothing else I've ever seen, so far.

11:27 AM - Skyline

Skyline, originally uploaded by bridgeportseasoning.

This was one of my Flickr favorites. This picture was taken two years ago. I was at a different spot when I took my skyline picture, however, in this picture there wasn't development here on Roosevelt Road like there are is. To the east of about where this picture was taken a new Target has been built. How's that for progress?

9:36 AM - Skyline

Skyline, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

This one of my rare shots of Chicago's skyline. Perhaps when the weather is warmer and brighter I can get a better shot without the cloudy skies. And I have another one that I've yet to upload. I liked that better than this one.

7:33 PM - ATL's King Drive

ATL's King Drive, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

So I'm looking toward Morris Brown College on a Sunday last month. I paid a visit to Morris Brown on Good Friday since there was no school. I even took some pictures and starting next month I will share some of them on Flickr and on the photoblog as well.

10:28 AM - Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln, originally uploaded by torrez.

This is the first time other than I suppose in painting that I've seen a colorized portrait of Abraham Lincoln. Almost breathtaking to see the Great Emancipator in color even thought that technology didn't exist during the Civil War. They used one of those pictures where we see how the Civil War took it's toll on him. I found this on Flickr.

12:17 AM - HBCU Tour

Group, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

At various points every year there is a group of high school students touring the campus of Morehouse College. I took a shot of these young people one day as I was out and about. They usually tour the many HBCUs around the country and Atlanta has a collection of four HBCU in an area known as the Atlanta University Center (AUC). It's actually three because Morris Brown College is having problems right now. At the AUC there are Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark-Atlanta University.

Incidentally Spelman College celebrated 125 years on Tuesday.

2:41 PM - Video experiment 2: William Mayo...

For this one I'm using Google videos. While I had some videos in mind, this was just more compelling. This is a student movie about the life of William Mayo who was a Morehouse Student who was convicted of a crime he didn't commit. This apparently came from a event held every year in certain cities around the country called Campus Movie Fest.

A very sad story and I won't tell you too much about it. Just watch this video and take a look at the site dedicated to William Mayo.

10:22 AM - Harold Washington College

Harold Washington College, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

Let me just start out by saying I've been consistently doing a two picture quota a week. I missed it but I'll be back on schedule. It seemed I only did posting here without fail on a Tuesday or Wednesday and then on a Saturday.

I'll keep doing the two picture quota I'll just let the schedule settle itself. This photo is basically autobiographical. Let me tell you about it.

I used to go to Harold Washington College in downtown chicago, a 2 year city college, for many years. If I hadn't gone to this a community college I may never have found myself at Morehouse College.

Since I last attended this school it has changed considerably. Most of the professors I had taken are retired. Also they've been doing some renovation too.

I took this shot when I was home for Christmas break.

11:23 AM - A video experiment...

I've been investigating doing a video blog for a while now and I just wanted to see if I can post a video here as has been done on another video blog, What's Going On? using the You Tube video service. Basically I'm using a video I had posted on It's My Mind just to say that I have a video running on this blog.

You can go there for other commentary but to set it up, this is a video from the 2006 NAACP Image Awards of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity step team. And as I said on the other blog I missed it and I wish I have been able to see these guys hold it down on national TV. Enjoy.

12:37 PM - Five Points

Five Points, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

I was at the Five Points station waiting for a train to take me out east. I was just bored and I wanted some pictures of Five Points. I hope to have more pictures from there at some point.

12:37 PM - Check the facts

Check the facts, originally uploaded by lbj79us.

I decided to take a picture of this board as I walked towards the library. CAU had their Delta Sigma Theta week and on their board of prominent Deltas, it still listed Carol Moseley Braun as the current senator from Illinois. In fact her seat is now held by Barack Obama. But the main thing is a Delta was a United States Senator.
