8:59 PM - McFadden & Whitehead - Aint No Stoppin Us Now
2:58 AM - Sexual Healing - Marvin Gaye
11:01 PM - Porgy and Bess--Bessie You Is My Woman Now
Porgy and Bess was an opera composed by George Gershwin. He's responsible for that music you might hear when you watch a United Airlines ad. If you're interested that composition was called, A Rhapsody in Blue. The jazzy sound in this vid is delightful, enjoy!
11:26 PM - Skee-Lo - I Wish
Another reason I miss the mid-1990s. Raps such as this by Skee-Lo. Enjoy!
4:53 AM - Puttin’ on the Ritz
I've been browsing YouTube for music videos this week. Doesn't matter the genre. It could be rap, R&B, soul, funk, rock, new wave, or what have you.
I posted a couple of videos on the 1980s version of Puttin on the Ritz here earlier this year but both of those videos have been deleted from YouTube. This time I think that YouTube isn't likely to bother it so I post it now and delete those other posts that I already have here.
I always though of this song as a nice snappy song. Especially with that nice early 1980s sound (performed by this artist named Taco).
There were two version of this video I should add. This is the controversial version where the permorers here were in blackface. In another version of this video, those sequences with the performers in black face were edited out and in some shots headshots of movie legend Gary Cooper were inserted.
I decided to look up more about this song and found out that originally the lyrics were to reflect the fad of well to do New Yorkers going to black jazz clubs in Harlem. I decided to see if I can find the original lyrics of this song and excuse me if I call this Exhibit A.
Have you seen the well-to-doThe song was later rewritten to be generally applicable to going out in the town in style.
Up and down Park Avenue
On that famous thoroughfare
With their noses in the air
High hats and narrow collars
White spats and fifteen dollars
Spending every dime
For a wonderful time
Now, if you're blue
And you don't know where to go to
Why don't you go where Harlem flits
Puttin' on the Ritz
Spangled Gowns upon the bevy of
High browns from down the levy
Always spits
Puttin' on the Ritz
That's where each and every lulu-belle goes
Every Thursday evening with her swell beaus
Rubbin' elbows
Come with me and we'll attend their jubilee
And see them spend
Their last two bits
Puttin' on the Ritz
- short instrumental break -
(Boys, look at that man puttin' on that Ritz)
Now, if you're blue
And you don't know where to go to
Why don't you go where Harlem flits
Puttin' on the Ritz
Spangled Gowns upon the bevy of
High browns from down the levy
All misfits
Puttin' on that certain Ritz
Come with me and we'll attend their jubilee
And see them spend
Their last two bits
Puttin' on the Ritz
Come with me and we'll attend their jubilee
And see them spend
Their last two bits
Puttin' on the Ritz

12:48 PM - 2Pac - California Love
I'm not really a TuPac fan, but I really enjoy this song California Love. There's a very nice sound when you listen to this. It almost makes me miss what rap music used to be. In a way it's too bad TuPac was killed before his time.
12:36 AM - Kilgore - "Walk"
So this video I first saw back in 1999. I even recorded it on tape when I saw it on TV one day and it can be considered a great ode to the ECW of old. In fact it can be an ode to one of ECW's greatest stars, Rob Van Damn.
In this video we see a band called Kilgore do a rendition of Pantera's song "Walk" and with all the ECW wrestlers and the ECW action it's worth watching.
11:22 AM - Brian Setzer Orchestra - Hawaii Five O
Anyway what you're going to see is a rendition of the Hawaii Five-0 theme by Brian Setzer, and it's pretty good. Check out this description...
Brian Setzer and his 17-piece orchestra perform "Hawaii Five O" live in Tokyo, Japan 2001.
10:13 PM - 69 Boyz - Tootsee Roll
This song takes me back. This was certainly my first exposure to the idea of rump-shakin'. Of course what's seen in this video pales in comparison to what I would see as I would progress thru adolescence. If you don't like rump-shakin, I hope you like the tune.
10:55 AM - We Miss Robert
YouTube description...
T-BAGG laments the loss of "Robert"A hilarious video. It should have you falling on the floor laughing. There isn't a lot of cursing thank goodness, but some elements might have you scratching your head. Actually the tune of this video is more appealing than most of what I hear in rap today.
12:01 AM - Salt-N-Pepa - Shoop

3:26 PM - Atomic Dog Lyrics
Artist: George Clinton Lyrics
Song: Atomic Dog LyricsYeah, this is a story of a famous dog
For the dog that chases its tail will be dizzy
These are clapping dogs, rhythmic dogs
Harmonic dogs, house dogs, street dogs
Dog of the world unite
Dancin' dogs
Yeah
Countin' dogs, funky dogs
Nasty dogs (Dog)
Atomic dog
Atomic dog
Like the boys
When they're out there walkin' the streets
May compete
Nothin' but the dog in ya
Bow-wow-wow-yippie-yo-yippie-yeah
Bow-wow-yippie-yo-yippie-yeah
Bow-wow-wow-yippie-yo-yippie-yeah
Bow-wow-yippie-yo-yippie-yeah
Like the boys
When they're out there walkin' the streets
May compete
Nothin' but the dog in ya
Why must I feel like that
Oh, why must I chase the cat
Like the boys
When they're out there walkin' the streets
May compete
Nothin' but the dog in ya
Ruff
Ruff
Ruff
Why must I feel like that
Why must I chase the cat
Nothin' but the dog in me
Why must I feel like that
Why must I chase the cat
Nothin' but the dog in me
Why must I feel like that
Why must I chase the cat
Nothin' but the dog in me
Why must I feel like that
Why must I chase the cat
Nothin' but the dog in me
Do the dogcatcher, dogcatcher
Do the dogcatcher
Do the dogcatcher, dogcatcher
Do the dogcatcher
Do the dogcatcher, baby, do the dogcatcher
Ooh
Why must I feel like that
Why must I chase the cat
Nothin' but the dog in me
Why must I feel like that
Why must I chase the cat
Nothin' but the dog in me
Bow-wow-yippie-yo-yippie-yeah
Bow-wow-wow-yippie-yo-yippie-yeah
Bow-wow-yippie-yo-yippie-yeah
Just walkin' the dog
Oh, atomic dog
Futuristic bow-wow
Ruff
Leader of the pack
Wild dog
Why must I feel like that
Why must I chase the cat
Just the dog in me
Nothin' but the dog in me
Why must I feel like that
Why must I chase the cat
Just the dog in me
Nothin' but the dog in me
Why must I feel like that
Why must I chase the cat
The dog in me (Dog in me)
The dog is in me (Dog in me)
Do the dogcatcher, dogcatcher
Do the dogcatcher
Do you wanna do the dogcatcher
Well, baby, why don't you do it again for me
Dogcatcher, dogcatcher
Do the dogcatcher
House-trained dogs
Wild dogs
Say it again
Why must I feel like that
Why must I chase the cat
2:40 PM - George Clinton - Atomic Dog
FYI - If you're Greek (a member of the Divine 9) you know who loves the song the most!!! Gotta love funk.
6:56 PM - Run DMC - You Talk Too Much
You know perhaps we should look at a little hip-hop here. I don't mind and this is one example of rap and hip-hop the way it used to be. Perhaps in real life this is exactly what you might want to say to someone who can't help but keep running their mouths.
12:00 AM - Bears fight song is back w/ the Super Bowl Shuffle!!!
They feature audio podcasts or programs for Bears fans everywhere. Also I have a reason to watch the Bears for a change. Perhaps whenever I'm near a computer I should try to listen in on few games online. Especially since I may not be able to watch them on TV here in Atlanta. Ah modern technology.
Oh yeah here's some lyrics and an audio file. I just wish there was a way to save the recording...
Bear down, Chicago Bears, make every play clear the way to victory;Oh yeah and hear a rendition from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Bear down, Chicago Bears, put up a fight with a might so fearlessly.
We’ll never forget the way you thrilled the nation with your T-formation.
Bear down, Chicago Bears, and let them know why you’re wearing the crown.
You’re the pride and joy of Illinois, Chicago Bears, bear down.
UPDATE: The Bears from 1985 do their Super Bowl Shuffle...
